Vietnam’s retail sales of goods and consumer services maintained solid growth in early 2026, supported by strong demand across goods, hospitality, and tourism, according to the latest data from the National Statistics Office.
Total retail sales and consumer service revenue reached VND 2,546.6 trillion (US$96.7 billion) in the first four months of the year, up 11.1 percent year on year, or 6.3 percent after excluding price effects.
In April alone, retail sales rose 1.7 percent month on month and 12.1 percent year on year to VND 646.3 trillion (US$24.5 billion), with fuel sales up 17.4 percent and accommodation and food services up 14.1 percent.
Retail goods accounted for the largest share at VND 1,938.8 trillion (US$73.6 billion), increasing 11.1 percent year on year, led by gains in clothing, food and beverages, and other consumer goods.
Accommodation and food services generated VND 317.4 trillion (US$12.0 billion), up 13.4 percent, while tourism revenue rose 12.1 percent to VND 31.9 trillion (US$1.2 billion), supported by holiday and Tet demand.
Other services contributed VND 258.5 trillion (US$9.8 billion), up 8.5 percent year on year, with strong growth recorded in provinces such as Hue, Ninh Binh, and Khanh Hoa.
At the local level, retail sales growth remained broad-based, with Quang Ninh, Bac Ninh, Can Tho, and Hai Phong all reporting double-digit increases in goods sales over the period.
