Vietnam November CPI up .45 percent month-on-month, 3.58 percent year on year

Consumer prices in November increased by 0.45 percent from October, driven mainly by higher food prices in flood-affected provinces and rising input and fuel costs, according to the latest data from the National Office of Statistics (NSO).

The consumer price index has increased by 3.28 percent from December 2024 and by 3.58 percent from November last year.

On average in the first eleven months of 2025, the consumer price index has risen by 3.29 percent from the same period last year, while core inflation has increased by 3.21 percent.

  • Nine of the 11 goods and services groups recorded price increases in November.
  • Transport prices increased by 1.07 percent, with diesel prices up 5.23 percent and petrol prices up 2.41 percent due to domestic price adjustments.
  • The cost of eating out increased, contributing to a 0.95 percent rise in the food and beverage services group.
  • Other goods and services prices increased by 0.30 percent, including a 3.22 percent rise in jewellery prices in line with world gold prices.
  • Household appliances and equipment rose by 0.17 percent, clothing and footwear by 0.12 percent, and beverages and tobacco by 0.10 percent.
  • Medicine and medical services prices increased by 0.06 percent, and education by 0.05 percent due to higher tuition fees at some private schools.
  • Culture, entertainment and tourism increased by 0.01 percent.

Prices fell in two groups.

  • Information and communication decreased by 0.06 percent, including lower prices for phone accessories and smart mobile phones.
  • Housing, electricity, water, fuel and construction materials decreased by 0.10 percent as household electricity and water demand dropped in colder weather, and gas prices declined following global trends.

Core inflation in November increased by 0.23 percent from October and by 3.28 percent from November last year.

On average over the first eleven months, core inflation has risen by 3.21 percent, lower than the overall consumer price index due to excluded items such as food, electricity, medical and education services, the NSO says.
