Vietnam new car sales down year-on-year

A total of 23,993 new cars were sold in Vietnam in September, a 17 percent drop over the 28,757 new cars sold in September of last year, according to the Vietnam Automotive Manufacturers Association (VAMA), and reported by Just-Auto. This brings total new car sales for the year to the end of September to 190,130 a 28 percent drop compared to the first nine months of 2022.

Note: The first two weeks of September coincided with what is commonly known as the ‘ghost month’ on the lunar calendar. In this period, superstition dictates that during this period Vietnamese should avoid making big purchases like cars.
