Vietnam’s Consumer Price Index rose 0.19 percent in December from the previous month, driven mainly by higher food prices and dining costs, according to the latest release from Vietnam’s National Statistics Office.
Compared with December last year, the CPI increased by 3.48 percent, while the average CPI for the fourth quarter of 2025 rose 3.44 percent year on year.
For the full year 2025, the CPI increased by 3.31 percent compared with 2024, meeting the inflation target set by the National Assembly.
Food and catering services recorded the largest monthly increase in December, rising 0.75 percent and contributing 0.27 percentage points to overall inflation, while clothing, household equipment, beverages, housing-related costs, healthcare, education and information services also posted price gains.
Transport prices fell 1.08 percent during the month due mainly to lower fuel prices, helping to offset upward pressure from other categories.
Average inflation in 2025 was driven primarily by higher housing, electricity, water and construction material prices, rising food and dining costs, adjustments to medical service fees, and higher education expenses.
Core inflation rose 0.23 percent in December and increased by an average of 3.21 percent in 2025, remaining below the overall CPI as food, energy, healthcare and education prices are excluded from the core measure.
