Vietnam imported fabric to the tune of US$1,462 million in April, up from US$1,083 million in March, a change of 35.01 percent, according to preliminary data from Vietnam’s General Department of Customs.
Year to date, Vietnam had imported US$4,854 million worth of fabric by the end of April.
Vietnam’s fabric industry
Vietnam’s fabrics industry underpins the country’s textile and garment sector, supplying both domestic manufacturers and export markets.
Production is concentrated in synthetic and blended fabrics, while reliance on imported raw materials, particularly from China and South Korea, remains significant.
The sector is expanding alongside apparel exports, supported by trade agreements and rising foreign investment into upstream textile production.
However, environmental compliance, energy costs and limited domestic input capacity continue to constrain the industry’s move up the value chain.
