Vietnam’s imports from the United Kingdom rose slightly in September 2025, reaching US$84.66 million, up 1.87 percent from August, according to Vietnam’s General Department of Customs.
Year-to-date imports totalled US$715.31 million.
Machinery and equipment remained the top category despite a 22.69 percent drop to US$26.41 million, followed by other products (US$17.35 million) and pharmaceuticals, which jumped 61.48 percent to US$8.37 million.
Motor vehicle imports surged 233.58 percent to US$5.34 million, while chemical products increased 25.34 percent to US$5.27 million.
Moderate gains were also recorded in plastic products and fishery goods, while textile materials, iron and steel, and computers all saw declines.
Pharmaceutical materials nearly tripled, indicating expanding healthcare-related demand.
Imports from the UK were led by industrial and healthcare goods, reflecting steady bilateral trade momentum in high-value sectors.
Of note, Vietnam’s trade with the United Kingdom declined slightly in September 2025, with total two-way turnover reaching US$830.09 million, down 6.09 percent from August.
Vietnam’s trade surplus with the UK narrowed to US$660.78 million, a 7.94 percent decrease compared with the previous month.
Year-to-date, total trade stood at US$6.94 billion, including US$6.22 billion in exports and US$715.31 million in imports, highlighting the UK’s continued role as a key European market for Vietnamese goods despite short-term fluctuations.
