Vietnam exported US$2.34 billion worth of goods to Japan in July, up 4.4 percent from June and bringing total exports in the first seven months of 2025 to US$15.15 billion, according to Vietnam’s General Department of Customs.
Textiles and garments led the export basket, reaching US$418.16 million, up 8.7 percent month-on-month and accounting for nearly 17 percent of total shipments.
Transport equipment and parts followed at US$280.76 million, up 5.9 percent, while machinery and equipment advanced slightly by 1.5 percent to US$224.14 million.
Electronics showed mixed trends.
Phone exports rose 14.4 percent to US$181.76 million, but computers and components declined 7.7 percent to US$130.17 million.
Wood and wooden products recorded strong growth of 17.6 percent to US$181.70 million, while fishery exports fell 7.4 percent to US$138.81 million.
Other gains included plastics at US$61.35 million, up 5.9 percent, and pastry and cereal products, up 16.2 percent.
Coffee shipments dropped sharply by 34.2 percent to US$38.20 million, and toys fell 19.1 percent to US$40.58 million.
The July data underscores Japan’s importance as a diversified export market for Vietnam, spanning textiles, transport, electronics, and wood products, though traditional categories such as seafood and coffee remain volatile.
