Television set production in Vietnam down 1.04 percent in October

Vietnam produced 1969.74 a thousand of televisions in October, down 1.04 percent from 1,990.47 a thousand in September, according to the latest data from the National Statistics Office.

Over the first ten months of the year, output reached 17,560.40 a thousand.

Digiworld Corporation (DGW) distributes information technology products, smartphones, and consumer electronics in Vietnam.

DGW closed at VND 43,700 on Friday down 0.45 percent with 22,442,000 shares traded, worth VND 99,925 million.

Foreign ownership in DGW is currently capped at 49.4 percent, with current foreign ownership sitting at 22.7 percent.

FPT Retail JSC

FPT Retail JSC (FRT) operates FPT Shop and F.Studio retail chains selling electronics, phones, and IT products.

FRT closed at VND 147,000 on Friday up 0.9 percent with 4,810,000 shares traded, worth VND 70,712 million.

Foreign ownership in FRT is currently capped at 49.0 percent, with current foreign ownership sitting at 32.1 percent.

Mobile World Investment Corporation

Mobile World Investment Corporation (MWG) runs retail chains including Thegioididong, Dien May Xanh, and Bach Hoa Xanh, selling electronics and groceries.

MWG closed at VND 79,900 on Friday down 0.1 percent with 30,267,000 shares traded, worth VND 241,093 million.

Foreign ownership in MWG is currently capped at 49.0 percent, with current foreign ownership sitting at 46.1 percent.

These are some of the latest developments in Vietnam’s manufacturing industry.

New footwear parts factory Ninh Binh

US firm OrthoLite, performance insoles and foam components for footwear, has opened a new manufacturing facility in Ninh Binh as part of its push for local-for-local production in Vietnam.

The company says that the site will cut lead times, strengthen supply chain resilience, and provide vertically integrated production for nearby partners and tier 1 factories.

Boeing parts Danang

On 7 November, KP Aerospace Vietnam held a ceremony at its KP Vina Aerospace Parts Plant in Da Nang High-Tech Park to mark the export of its first batch of aircraft components serving Boeing’s supply chain in South Korea.

The US$20 million, 2-hectare plant, approved in December 2023, produces precision-machined parts including Boeing 787 wing tips and 737 Max flap support assemblies meeting NADCAP standards.

KP Aerospace reportedly plans to expand production for Boeing 737 Max, hire more engineers, and cooperate with the Da Nang University of Science and Technology for training and OJT programmes.

US semiconductor firm meets provincial leaders Bac Ninh

Qorvo, a US-based semiconductor company, met with Bac Ninh authorities on 10 November to discuss cooperation in chip manufacturing and technology transfer.

The company, which reported annual revenue of US$3.7 billion, already works with Amkor, Luxshare, and Sunshine Technology on chip design and component production in the province.

Qorvo has opened a representative office in Bac Ninh and reportedly plans to establish a research and development centre focused on advanced semiconductor packaging.
