Taiwan footwear maker to drop US$100 million on new factory in central Vietnam

Taiwanese footwear company Dah Lih Puh intends to invest $100 million in a new factory in Ha Tinh, a central province in Vietnam, The Investor has reported. The planned factory will cover 30 hectares within the Lac Thien Industrial Cluster in the province.

This will add to Dah Lih Puh’s existing operations in Vietnam which are mostly conducted through its subsidiary Viet Glory. Viet Glory came to prominence in Vietnam in October of 2023, when 7000 of its workers went on strike in search of a pay rise. This was successful with workers returning to work six days later for a bigger paycheck.

Of note, this industrial action took place at the firm’s factory in Nghe An province which borders Ha Tinh in central Vietnam.
