Vietnam produced 52.72 thousand motor vehicles in May, up 2.68 percent from 51.34 thousand units in April 2026, according to the latest data from the National Statistics Office.
Year to date output reached 178.24 thousand units by the end of May.
Vietnam’s motor vehicles industry
Vietnam’s automotive industry is dominated by assembly operations, with both foreign and domestic manufacturers producing vehicles primarily for the domestic market.
The sector has grown alongside rising incomes and urbanisation, though car ownership rates remain relatively low compared to regional peers.
