Key Apple supplier to boost investment in northern Vietnam

BYD Electronics will invest a further US$183.7 million in its operations in Phu Tho province in the north of Vietnam, according to The Investor. The company currently assembles tablets for Apple and makes components for camera drones in the area.

About 70 kilometres from Hanoi, Phu Tho forms part of a belt of electronics manufacturing provinces in Vietnam’s north. This area has been the focus of huge volumes of FDI in recent years as firms have rejigged their supply chains to be less dependent on China, though still within arms reach of the manufacturing powerhouse.
