Vietnam’s index of industrial production (IIP) grew 9.2 percent year-on-year in the first six months of 2025, accelerating from 8.0 percent in the same period of 2024.
The processing and manufacturing sector led the expansion, while mining remained a drag on overall performance, according to the National Statistics Office–view source.
Key details:
- Processing and manufacturing: Increased by 11.1 percent, up from 8.9 percent last year, contributing 9.1 percentage points to the overall IIP growth.
- Electricity production and distribution: Rose 4.5 percent, lower than the 12.8 percent growth seen in 2024, contributing 0.4 percentage points.
- Water supply and waste treatment: Jumped 11.3 percent, improving on 6.4 percent in 2024, contributing 0.2 percentage points.
- Mining: Declined by 3.0 percent, reversing a 6.0 percent gain in 2024, reducing the overall index by 0.5 percentage points.
