Increasing bank deposits leading to increased lending costs

Bank profits are down considerably this year and part of this is due to increased lending costs linked to current account savings account (CASA) ratios, according to VN Express. This article is saying that when interest rates were high at the end of last year, people put more money into term deposits with high interest rates. Lending this money costs banks more than lending money from everyday accounts which have very low interest rates.
