Garments & textiles: Vietnam cotton imports down 7.0 percent in August

Vietnam imported US$227.09 million of cotton in August, a 7.03 percent decline from July, according to Vietnam’s General Department of Customs.

Year-to-date imports reached US$2.09 billion.

The USA remained the top supplier at US$121.02 million, down 13.50 percent month-on-month, accounting for 50.70 percent of total imports.

Brazil followed at US$30.17 million, down 34.21 percent, while Australia shipped US$44.32 million, up 29.09 percent.

Imports from India grew 39.79 percent to US$8.57 million.

Other contributors included Argentina at US$3.53 million, Ivory Coast at US$1.81 million, and Indonesia at US$1.68 million.

Small volumes also came from South Korea, Pakistan, China, and Taiwan.
