The European Bicycle Manufacturers Association has raised concerns that Chinese electric bike makers are exporting their products through Vietnam to the EU to avoid antidumping duties, ASL is reporting. This could see the EU apply antidumping duties on electric bikes from Vietnam too.
Using Vietnam to circumvent trade remedies has become a common practice among Chinese firms. This has also led to duties being applies ton Vietnam’s exports too. Most prominently, several Vietnamese solar panel firms were found to be breaching US trade remedies on solar cells back in August.
