Chinese coffee chain opens first Vietnam store in HCMC

China’s Cotti Coffee has opened its first store in Ho Chi Minh City, the World Coffee Portal is reporting. This is in line with a number of international coffee chains looking to enter Vietnam’s consumer coffee market. Data included in the article claims Vietnam to be East Asia’s fifth biggest branded coffee shop market with 5,750 outlines.

Side note: A number of international coffee chains have attempted to enter Vietnam’s cafe/coffee shop market but have not been successful. New York Dessert Cake (NYDC) and Australia’s Gloria Jeans are probably the most well known. Whereas coffee is extremely popular in Vietnam, the country has its own unique coffee culture and this can be difficult to tap into.
