China has expressed an interest in investing in more infrastructure in Vietnam

The China Railway Group and Power Construction Corporation of China have said they are interested in investing in more railway infrastructure in Vietnam, according to VN Express. Specifically mentioned were the North-South and the Lao Cai–Hanoi–Hai Phong railways.

Of note: China’s track record (excuse the pun) with infrastructure projects in Vietnam has not been great. The first metro line in Hanoi, built by China, was delayed by almost a decade and ran well over budget. It’s also worth noting that this announcement comes a week after the President of the US was in Hanoi to upgrade the relationship between the US and Vietnam and while the Vietnamese Prime Minister is currently in the US.
