A draft deployment plan for the Power Development Plan 8 (PDP8) has been sent back to the Ministry of Industry and Trade for revisions due to a lack of detail, particularly on offshore wind, according to The Investor.
Why it matters: Doubts have already been raised about Vietnam’s ability to meet the goals it has outlined in the PDP8 particularly with regard to offshore wind (OSW). This latest setback will delay its implementation even further and put the 6 gigawatts of OSW by 2030 specified in the plan that little bit further out of reach. Note that OSW projects typically take about 5 to 7 years to complete.
