Increased fuel supplier inspections

24H is reporting that Vietnam’s Ministry of Industry and Trade has ordered nationwide inspections of fuel retailers to help ensure adequate supplies, with a particular focus on diesel amid global supply pressures.

Provincial authorities have been instructed to monitor fuel inventories, prices and sales, while taking action against hoarding, restricted sales or unauthorised closures of petrol stations. View source→

US 301 tariff rate quotas apparel

SGB Online is reporting that the United States is proposing textile tariff-rate quotas for Bangladesh, Cambodia, Indonesia and Malaysia, potentially exempting qualifying apparel exports from new Section 301 tariffs, noting if these go ahead it could put Vietnam at a disadvantage. View source→

Industrial park earnings expectations

The Investor is reporting that Vietnam’s industrial park developers are expected to see sharply diverging earnings in 2026, with companies holding large rubber land banks forecast to significantly outperform traditional industrial park operators. View source→

PYN Elite assessment stock market July

Dau Tu Kien Thuc is reporting that Finnish investment fund PYN Elite has described July as “horrible” after the VN-Index plunged, but said it still expects Vietnamese listed companies to deliver solid profit growth in 2026.

The fund attributed the market sell-off to domestic and foreign investors, citing higher interest rates, stronger demand for capital and geopolitical uncertainty. View source→

Mortgage interest rates

Tuoi Tre is reporting that Vietnamese mortgage rates have risen to 15-16 percent, with borrowers reporting sharply higher monthly repayments as deposit rates continue to increase. View source→

Japan electronics buys out local partner

The Investor is reporting that Japan’s Sharp Energy Solutions has acquired full ownership of its Vietnamese solar engineering joint venture, renaming it Sharp Energy Solution Vietnam Company Limited.

The company said full control will accelerate decision-making as it expands into rooftop solar systems and battery energy storage projects in Vietnam. View source→

Airfares fall

VnExpress is reporting that domestic airfares in Vietnam have fallen by 30-50 percent since the start of the summer travel season, driven by lower jet fuel prices, increased airline capacity and stronger competition.

Travel industry representatives said lower ticket prices are boosting tour bookings and reducing cancellations as weaker consumer demand encourages airlines to offer cheaper fares, the article says. View source→

Vingroup leader + wife LPBank stake

Tien Phong is reporting that Vingroup leader Pham Nhat Vuong and his wife, Pham Thu Huong, together own nearly 9.86 percent of LPBank’s charter capital, making them among its largest shareholders.

The disclosure marks the first time Pham Thu Huong has appeared on LPBank’s list of shareholders owning at least 1 percent under Vietnam’s 2024 Law on Credit Institutions. View source→

Certificate of deposit interest rates

Dan Tri is reporting that Vietnamese banks are offering certificates of deposit with interest rates of up to 9 percent, significantly above ordinary deposit rates, as they compete for funding amid strong credit demand. View source→

Exchange rates Monday
