Worker retention has become a problem at some firms in Vietnam due to pending changes to the ability to access social insurance before retirement. Currently, workers can choose to take a one-time payout if they are out of work for more than a year. There have, however, been reports that lump-sum payments will be done away with in the near future and in anticipation of said change some workers are reportedly resigning their positions and taking a year off to get paid out.
This is worth keeping an eye on–in the event that a change is announced it is likely that it will take some time to take effect. If workers do have advanced warning this could see major upheaval in the workforce in some industries as workers try to get their claims in before said loophole is removed. #monitoring
